Long Island: Accessible via government ferries from Rangat or Yerrata jetty. You must manually purchase boat tickets at the jetty or have your tour operator pre-arrange them.
Diglipur: Primarily reached by road from Port Blair (325 km), passing through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve. Personal AC vehicles are recommended for comfort over the 8–10 hour drive.
Resources in these areas are limited. Do not expect luxury. Diglipur offers eco-resorts and budget hotels, while Long Island has very basic guest houses and eco-stays. Pre-booking is mandatory.
The ideal window is October to May for pleasant weather and clear waters. Avoid the monsoon months (July–September) as boat services to Ross & Smith or Long Island are often suspended due to high tides
Essentials: Sunscreen, hats, and insect repellent are crucial for tropical humidity.
Footwear: Sturdy trekking shoes are required if you plan to climb Saddle Peak.
Cash: ATMs are extremely rare in Rangat and Diglipur; carry sufficient cash for personal expenses.
Jarawa Reserve: No photography or interaction with tribes is allowed while driving through the reserve.
Night Stays: Overnight stays on Ross & Smith Islands are strictly prohibited.
