Yes, there is a motorable road from Mandi/Baggi to the lake. However, many travelers prefer the 9 km trek from Baggi village for a more “offbeat” experience. During peak winter (Jan–Feb), the road may close due to snow, making trekking the only option

March to June: Pleasant weather, clear skies, and lush greenery. Ideal for families.

December to February: Best for snow lovers. Prashar Lake and Tosh will be blanketed in white, but be prepared for sub-zero temperatures.

Avoid July–August: Heavy monsoons can cause landslides, especially on the routes to Jibhi and Tosh.

Most treks in this itinerary are Easy to Moderate: 

Prashar Lake: Moderate (if trekking from Baggi); Easy (if driving).

Serolsar Lake (from Jalori Pass): Easy (5 km flat walk through oak forests).

Tosh Village: Very Easy (a short 1-hour uphill walk from the Barshaini bus stand).Chalal (from Kasol): Easy (30-minute walk along the river). 

Is it safe for solo travelers or women?

General Safety: Very safe. Himachali locals are known for being helpful and hospitable.

Precautions: Avoid trekking alone after dark in Parvati Valley (Kasol/Tosh) due to dense forests and limited lighting. Stick to marked trails.

Network: Airtel and Jio work well in most towns, but connectivity is spotty at Prashar Lake and inside Tosh village.
