This 7-night, 8-day itinerary is a classic “Gateway to Bhutan” route, starting and ending at the Indian border town of Phuentsholing. It covers the core cultural heartland of Bhutan: the modern capital (Thimphu), the historic valley (Punakha), and the iconic monastery site (Paro).

Meet and Greet on arrival at NJP Train Station / IXB Airport and transfer to Phuentsholing. It is a thriving commercial centre on the northern edge of the Indian Plains. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.
After breakfast, complete the immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. On the way, we will drive to visit Sangye Migyur Ling Lhakhang, also known as the Milarepa Tower. En route, stop to see the 8 types of stupas located at Gedu, which is known as the Eight Dharma Kaya Stupa, and later stop at the famous Roadside Waterfall, a popular, easily accessible spot for photos and a quick break, located in the Chukha area. Before reaching Thimphu, we will pass through Chuzum gate, a beautiful spot with three stupas where three rivers meet. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Thimphu.
After breakfast, visit the outer view of Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue), the Hindu Temple, the outer view of National Memorial Chorten (Monument), and Simply Bhutan. Afternoon visit Nunnery , Takin Preserve Center , National Library , Centenary Farmer Market ( Handicraft products and local products can be found here . Craft Bazar for shopping can be seen here. In the evening, the Tashichhoe Dzong Outer view (Fortress of the Glorious Religion).
Overnight stay at Thimphu
After breakfast, drive to Punakha / Wangdue, on the way, stop at Dochu-La-Pass (3150 mts.), during clear days, you will get a chance to see the Himalayan mountain ranges of Bhutan. Afternoon visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. For many years, until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. The Dzong was named PungthangDechenPhodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of the monastic body. After that, take a short hike to visit the Chimi Lhakang, it's also known as the temple of fertility, and on the way back, visit the Suspension bridge. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Punakha.
After breakfast, drive to Paro and on the way visit the riverside and Airport View, Ta Dzong – National Museum with an excellent collection of art, relics, and religious thangka. RinpungDzong, meaning "fortress of the heap of jewels, Visit Museums of Lights ( To display the country’s journey before the arrival of electricity and the present). Evening Leisure. Overnight stay at Paro.
After breakfast visit Taktsang Monastery - called “Tiger's Nest” and later, if time permits, visit Drukgyel Dzong. Overnight stay will be at Paro
After breakfast, drive to Sangchen Chokor Monastery for the Paro valley view and the temple. Back to Paro. And evening, try the Bhutanese Traditional Dress and Shopping at the town. Overnight stay at Paro
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Phuentsholing. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing

No visa is required for Indians, but you must obtain an Entry Permit. You can get this at the Phuentsholing pedestrian terminal or apply online in advance to save time.

Indian Rupees are widely accepted. However, notes of ₹500 and ₹2,000 are generally not accepted; it is best to carry ₹100 notes or use UPI (BHIM/PhonePe), which works in many urban shops
Indian SIM cards usually stop working once you cross the border. You can easily buy a local TashiCell or B-Mobile SIM at Phuentsholing for roughly ₹200–500 with data.
