Operational Month – Round the Year
A Leh – Sham – Nubra – Pangong – Leh circuit is the most popular way to experience Ladakh’s core highlights. While the region is accessible year-round, the experience shifts dramatically between the vibrant summer (May–September) and the snowy, serene winter (October–April).
Highlights
- Leh (Base): Gateway to the region; essential for 2 days of acclimatization. Highlights include the Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, and the local market.
- Sham Valley: Known as the "Apricot Valley," it features lower altitudes and cultural sites like Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the Sangam (confluence of Indus and Zanskar rivers).
- Nubra Valley: Accessed via Khardung La (one of the world's highest motorable roads). Famous for the Hunder Sand Dunes, double-humped Bactrian camels, and the giant Maitreya Buddha at Diskit Monastery.
- Pangong Tso: High-altitude lake known for its changing blue hues. In winter, the lake completely freezes, allowing visitors to walk on its surface.
